At East Wind Healthcare, we believe that every patient should have access to the care they need to improve their health and quality of life. We are proud to offer a variety of payment options to meet the financial needs of each patient, including self-pay discounts, health insurance coverage, and payment assistance through the VA. If your specific situation does not fall into one of the categories below, please contact our front office and we will work together to find the best solution for you.

For Patients Paying “Out of Pocket:”

We accept major credit cards, cash, and personal checks.

We require a deposit to hold an appointment slot.

We require payment at or before the time of service.

We offer “program discounts” for payment in advance.

We accept HSA and other “Perks Programs.”

For Veterans Affairs (VA) Patients:

We are under contract with the VA and what they pay us is considered “payment in full”.

If you choose to purchase separate products or services, you will need to pay for those yourself.

We will assist you in processing requests for services with the VA.

For Network Health Plan Patients: We Are “In-Plan”

Not all Network Health plan policies cover acupuncture, but many do.

All Network Health plan policies REQUIRE pre-authorization, which involves multiple steps.

Each policy has specific criteria that must be met to obtain coverage. These include, but are not limited to, acceptable diagnosis, documented history of the diagnosis, and physician referral.

Coverage is subject to deductibles and copays as well as the limitations specified by Network Health.

If you have a Network Health plan program that includes “Pick Your Perks,” you may use them to pay for your acupuncture.

For United Health Plan (Optum) Patients: We Are “In-Plan” for Some of Their Contracts

Not all United Health plan policies cover acupuncture, but some do.

United coverage is subject to appropriate diagnosis and the coverage is limited.

Coverage is subject to deductibles and copays as well as the limitations specified by UnitedHealthcare Insurance.

For All Other Insurance, We Are “Out of Network” (i.e. we have no contract).

ATTENTION MEDICARE PATIENTS!

Medicare has been “dabbling” with coverage for acupuncture for chronic low back pain, but they have yet to admit “acupuncturists” into their network. So, while Medicare does “cover acupuncture,” finding an acupuncture provider that is already in the Medicare network is challenging. There are very few of them and they typically are busy with other “non-acupuncture” services. Please note: WE CANNOT ACCEPT MEDICARE or MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS.
